New Delhi. Maruti Suzuki is going to make a big change to make its smallest and most economical hatchback Alto more efficient. The company says that the weight of the tenth generation model of Alto will be reduced by 100 kg. Let us tell you that the tenth generation Maruti Alto car can hit the market by 2027.
The current generation Japanese-spec car, which is Kei sized, weighs 680 kg. A 100 kg weight reduction will bring it down to 578 kg, bringing it very close to the original Suzulight that was launched in the early 1970s. In fact, this weight will make it even lighter than the SS80 Maruti 800 that the Indo-Japanese automaker launched in India in 1983.
Alto will be better than before
The biggest aim of the weight reduction is to make the Alto a smaller and more efficient model, a glimpse of which is already seen in the new Swift with the Z12 engine. This engine will also be found in cars like the new Dzire, Wagon R, Baleno and Francox.
We believe that making lighter cars will allow car manufacturers to install larger battery packs in smaller electric and hybrid models. CNG models with larger tanks are also expected to benefit from this.
