Dharm Desk. In Sanatan Dharma – tradition, worship of Guru has special importance. Guru is considered greater than God. The full moon date of Ashadh month is dedicated to Guru. This time Guru Purnima is falling on 21st July. This year, a wonderful Mahasanyog of planets and constellations is also being made on Guru Purnima. According to the scriptures, it is necessary to have a Guru for success in life. Knowledge is not obtained without Guru. The great sage Veda Vyas ji was born on the full moon date of Ashadh month. Therefore, it is also called Vyas Purnima. On this auspicious date, worship of Guru and charity have special importance.
According to astrology, this time on Guru Purnima, Sarvarth Siddhi Yog, Ravan Nakshatra, Preeti and Vishkamb Yog are being formed. According to the Vedic calendar, Sarvarth Siddhi Yog will start at 5:37 am on the day of Purnima and will end at 12:14 midnight. That is, Sarvarth Siddhi Yog will remain throughout the day. Therefore, by worshipping Guru properly and donating on the day of Guru Purnima, all the problems in life will vanish.
Ganga bath and donation also have special importance on Guru Purnima festival. On this day, after bathing in the Brahma Muhurta in the morning, one should touch the feet of his parents considering them as Guru. While doing so, offer flowers at the feet of parents. This helps in removing all the problems of life. Along with this, donating to the poor on Guru Purnima gives special virtue.
It is noteworthy that in India, Guru has been considered equal to God since ancient times. Saint Kabirdas has described the greatness of Guru in his couplet – Guru Govind dono khade, kaake lagun paay. Balihari Guru apne, Govind diyo bataye. That is, if Guru and Govind (God) are standing together, then whom should one bow down to? Guru or Govind? Baba Kabir says that if such a situation arises, one should bow down to the feet of Guru, because it is only through his knowledge that you are getting the good fortune of seeing Govind.
