There have been many clashes between India's star player Virat Kohli and former veteran opener Gautam Gambhir. Both had a fight in IPL 2023. However, Kohli and Gambhir were seen clearing their grievances in IPL 2024. Gambhir is now the head coach of Team India. India has to play a series of three T20 and three ODI matches on the Sri Lanka tour from July 27. This is Gambhir's first series as head coach. In such a situation, the question in everyone's mind is whether the old feud between Kohli and Gambhir will be seen in the India dressing room as well? The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has received a clear message in this regard.
In fact, Kohli has decided to forget the old controversies with Gambhir and move forward. According to a Cricbuzz report, Kohli told the BCCI that he is ready to forget his past controversies with Gambhir on the field and will work towards the common goal of achieving big achievements for Indian cricket. This issue was also discussed in the Indian dressing room after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados.
According to the report, "Kohli is comfortable working with head coach Gambhir and has clearly conveyed this to the concerned officials of the BCCI. Despite the heated argument with Gambhir in the IPL, Kohli has said that past issues will not affect their professional relationship in the dressing room. The matter was discussed after the World Cup final in Barbados. Kohli and Gambhir are residents of Delhi. Kohli assured that both are working for the benefit of the country and are ready to move forward forgetting the earlier differences."
Let us tell you that Kohli and Rohit Sharma have retired from T20 International cricket. Both will be seen playing in the ODI series against Sri Lanka. Initially there was speculation that Kohli and Rohit would be rested on the Sri Lanka tour. But Gambhir wanted both the veteran players to play in their first series. In such a situation, Kohli and Rohit changed their mind and agreed to play the series. Rohit will lead the ODI team. At the same time, Suryakumar Yadav has been appointed the captain of the T20 team.
