Why is there a ruckus about NEET UG
The National Testing Agency has announced the NEET UG. After this announcement, protests have started regarding the upcoming results. This year, more than 13 lakh candidates have passed the NEET UG exam. The uproar over the results increased when 67 of the passed candidates secured the number one rank. Questions began to arise as to how so many students managed to secure rank one. A major reason for raising questions on the results is that some students have secured 718-719 marks out of the 720 marks paper. In such a situation, 67 students have topped. Subject analysts say that in this exam, 4 marks are given for each question. If the student has given the right answer, then he will get 4 marks and if he has given the wrong answer, then there is negative marking of one mark. If someone solves all the questions, then he gets 716 marks and if he gives the wrong answer to one question, then he gets 715 marks. In such a situation, the question is how the students have got 718-719 marks. This matter has reached the Supreme Court raising questions on the results of NEET UG. Many questions are being raised on the government as well as the agency conducting the examination regarding the discrepancies in it. Along with withdrawing the results of NEET UG 2024, a demand has been made in the court to conduct a new examination.
Even after getting full marks there is a scramble for seats in AIIMS
It is not easy to get admission in All India Institute of Medical Sciences. For this, students have to get a good rank. Mostly only the students who get top rank in NEET exam get admission in it or if your marks are more than 700 then you can get admission. But this time a situation of competition is seen for the seat in AIIMS. This year the number of students getting high scores is much more than last time. 67 students are rank one holders. In such a situation, it also depends that the students have got high scores, but it is also necessary to have that many seats in the college. If the colleges have seats according to the cut off, then the students can get the seat.
Not a single girl student is in top 10 in NEET exam
This time 23,33,297 candidates appeared for the NEET UG 2024 exam, out of which 13,16,268 students have been successful. 67 candidates have secured the first rank in this exam. The students securing the first rank have scored 99.997 percent marks. Out of the total 67 candidates who secured the top rank, 20 are girls. But none of these names are in the NEET UG top 10 list, that is, not a single girl has topped this list. If we talk about the top 20, then there are only 3 girls' names in it too.
Why do parents want their children to become doctors?
Looking at the changing environment of the society, it can be said that parents nowadays impose their dreams on their children. The child will later study engineering or medicine. Mostly the decision is of the parents. However, there are some children who choose such subjects on their own and keep working hard. But those children who do not wish to study this subject give up quickly.
Now the question arises that why do parents want their children to become doctors? In this too, social tension is seen or they have their own dreams. When parents themselves are associated with this profession, they try to make their child also join it. On the other hand, those parents who are not associated with this profession but still want their children to become doctors, they have many reasons behind this. First, it is considered a prestigious and high-paying profession. At the same time, the risk in this profession is considered low.
How difficult is it to qualify NEET
Passing the NEET exam is not easy for every student. It requires hard work and hours of study. When candidates are sure that they will be able to pass the exam to some extent, they take part in it. But the process is not that easy here. Every year three to four lakh candidates join this exam. This number keeps increasing year after year. The number of government medical colleges is about 55 thousand, while the number of candidates appearing for the exam is increasing at the rate of about 4 lakh every year. As the number of candidates is increasing, the chances of success are decreasing. In such a situation, passing the NEET exam is not easy for everyone. Every year there are such candidates who are giving the NEET exam again.
Irregularities are breaking the morale of the students
Ever since the National Testing Agency announced the NEET UG exam, questions have been raised on the agency conducting the exam. Questions are being raised on such a large number of candidates securing the first rank. Subject experts say what kind of candidates have secured 720 marks in so many numbers. Even if seen according to the rules, no student can be given so many marks. In such a situation, this matter has reached the Supreme Court and different demands have been made against this exam result. The way the number of candidates in the country is increasing at the rate of about 4 lakh every year, the students appearing for the NEET exam are facing problems. Such irregularities in the examinations are breaking the morale of the candidates.
The students said this
A student who took the NEET exam said, 'Last year I got a rank of 10,000 on getting 640 marks, whereas this time my rank is more than 38 thousand on the same marks, whereas this year only 4 percent more students have given the exam compared to last year, so I don't understand how my rank increased by 20 percent.' Talking on this, Dr. Shashank Tiwari, working in Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, said, 'The NEET paper is very difficult for all students anyway, more than 15 lakh students of the country give the NEET exam. While the total number of medical seats across the country is less than 1 lakh, in such a situation the exam is more difficult. If there is no transparency, the future of the children will be in danger. The government and NTA should reconsider conducting the exam once again.'
