Breast Implants : In today's era, every man or woman wants to have a perfect body. Many people take the help of gym, exercise and diet for this, while some people choose medical help for this. Although there is no problem in both the things, such options depend on the personal choice of the person. But after all this, a big question arises, whether breast implant will become the cause of breast cancer in the future? According to research, people who get breast implants do not have the risk of breast cancer, but there is a slight possibility of rare cancer developing in the breast tissue around the breast implant.
Breast Implants: How does breast cancer occur after breast implants?
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has discovered a link between breast cancer and breast implants. In fact, according to the FDA, a cancer called anaplastic large cell lymphoma (ALCL), which is a rare immune system cancer, can occur after breast implants. After linking this rare cancer to breast implants, it is called Breast Implant Associated Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma (BIA-ALCL). The FDA believes that women who wear breast implants and their surface is textured are at a higher risk of (BIA-ALCL). But in-depth research is still needed to find the link between breast cancer and breast implants.
Breast Implants : Types of breast implants
There are two types of breast implants: saline gel and silicone. Saline is filled with sterilized salt water while silicone is filled with silicone gel which is designed to mimic the softness and weight of natural breast tissue.
Although researchers have not yet determined which breast implants carry the highest risk of developing BIA-ALCL, it is estimated that implants with a textured outer cell have a higher risk of developing cancer.
Breast Implants: Ways to prevent breast cancer
The most appropriate way to prevent breast cancer and BIA-ALCL is surgery and removal of the implant. In this, cancerous tissues are also removed through surgery. In some cases, chemotherapy may also be required later. If you want to get breast implants, you can do so after consulting your health care professional and if you have already got breast implants, then there is no need to get them removed due to fear of cancer, you should just keep getting routine checkups as a precaution. If you feel any warning symptoms such as swelling, lump, pain or change in the shape of the breasts, then contact your doctor immediately. Apart from this, one should not proceed with such treatment without consulting a health care professional.
