The latest episode of SmackDown was main-evented by Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owenstaking on the former WWE Tag Team Champions Austin Theory and Grayson Waller. Although the Babyfaces won the match, they were attacked by The Bloodline 2.0 shortly after the match ended.
After the show went off the air, Cody Rhodes was able to get up on his feet and walk. However, the injuries suffered by Owens seemed too brutal. Fan footage taken after the show went off the air shows referees helping the Prizefighter walk to the back. The American Nightmare also walked by his side and took his friend backstage.
The SmackDown main event ended with the WWE Undisputed Champion hitting a Cross Rhodes on Austin Theory and picking up the victory with a pinfall. Their celebrations were short-lived as Solo Score then walked down the ramp with members of his faction. This eventually led to a brawl, but The Bloodline greatly outnumbered Rhodes and Owens.
The Samoan faction put Rhodes through the announce table with a triple power-bomb. Furthermore, Son of Tonga horse-collared Kevin Owens with a steel chair and sent him crashing into a ring post. The show then went off-air as the faction stood tall over their foes.
The latest episode of SmackDown opened with Rhodes getting into the ring and cutting a promo. He addressed The Bloodline attacking him and Randy Orton on last week’s show. The 39-year-old said that The Apex Predator was his friend, but more than that, he was a mentor. The Viper picked him even when all the others had discarded him. Thus, he would not be standing in front of the WWE Universe as the WWE Undisputed Champion had it not been for the wrestling veteran.
The Samoan faction tied him up in the ring ropes and forced him to watch as they put The Legend Killer through the announce table. He was still full of guilt due to his inability to save his mentor. Rhodes’ entrance song started by claiming that wrestling has more than one royal family. To him, Randy Orton was his family and his brother.
This was clearly reflected in Rhodes’ actions last week. Despite barely being able to walk, he helped Orton get up and walk backstage. The last two weeks have seen the group take out both of The American Nightmare’s allies in his fight against The Bloodline. This potentially leaves him all alone for his SummerSlam match against Solo Sikoa.
