Most of us start our day with tea. There has been a long debate on whether drinking tea is beneficial or harmful. Studies have also given mixed results. Some research suggests that drinking black tea instead of milk tea can have many health benefits, while some researchers believe that due to the presence of caffeine in tea, its regular or excessive consumption can also cause many side effects. In this article, we will try to understand what kind of changes can happen in a person's body if he does not drink tea at all for 30 days?
Health experts say that although drinking tea in limited quantities is generally not considered harmful for most people, if you drink it in large quantities or four to five times a day then it can have some side effects. Most of the problems are caused by the caffeine and tannin present in tea. So what are the benefits of quitting tea?
What do dietitians say?
We contacted Pune-based dietitian Garima Jaiswal to know what effect consuming tea for a month can have on the body. Garima says that drinking tea in limited quantities is not harmful, however, if you consume black tea without milk and sugar and which contains immune-boosting spices, then it can have many benefits. But if you drink milk tea 4-5 times a day, then there is definitely a risk of long-term damage. Avoiding tea for a month can bring healthy changes in the body. Reducing caffeine intake for 30 days can lead to better sleep, less anxiety and improved digestive health.
Sleep problems start to improve
Tea naturally contains caffeine, so consuming too much of it can disrupt your sleep cycle. Some research suggests that excessive caffeine intake can disrupt the production of the hormone melatonin. This hormone signals the brain that it's time to sleep. Apart from fatigue, problems like memory loss, lack of sleep can also lead to obesity and poor blood sugar control. By not drinking tea for a month, melatonin levels return to normal and you can avoid sleep problems.
Caffeine addiction starts to go away
Caffeine is a habit-forming stimulant, which makes you drink tea or coffee again and again. Not getting tea on time can also cause problems like headache, irritability, increased heart rate and fatigue. Avoiding caffeinated products like tea and coffee for a month can also reduce caffeine addiction over time. It is beneficial for both physical and mental health.
