Yellow alert has been issued in 16 districts
Punjab is expected to receive rain on Thursday after a week of humidity and heat. Due to the rain, a yellow alert has been issued in Pathankot, Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Moga, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Rupnagar, Barnala, Sangrur, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib and SS. Heavy rains are also expected in these 16 districts on Wednesday and Thursday along with winds at a speed of 40 kmph.
Rain will be beneficial for farmers
The current rain in Punjab will help the farmers a lot. In the first 15 days of July, Punjab has received 34% less rainfall in the monsoon season. Due to this, farmers have become completely dependent on groundwater for paddy cultivation. This year 32 lakh hectares of paddy has been sown in Punjab, the Agriculture Department has said. This rain will give a lot of relief to the farmers.
Delhi's climate
