There is an allegation of embezzlement of Rs 1,84,45,551 in the house construction scam

Khas Khas, Chandigarh:
The Punjab Vigilance Bureau, as part of the ongoing anti-corruption drive in the state, has registered a corruption case against officials of Nagar Pari Nabha and a contractor for misusing funds of Rs 1,84,45,551 received under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMSAY).

Giving this information here today, a spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that during the investigation it was found that in the year 2018, Municipal Council Nabha had received funds under the House for All Scheme (PMSAY); within 6 days from 01.11.2018 to 06.11.2018, fake bills of development works were prepared and Rs. 1,84,45,551 was embezzled.

The spokesperson further said that it was also observed that no development work was done from the said amount, rather the officials in connivance with the contractor have embezzled the funds by showing the works as development works instead of building houses for the needy under the scheme.

The spokesperson said that on the basis of investigation, Vigilance has registered a case viz. FIR No. 32, dated 18.7.2024 under Sections 406, 420, 409, 465, 467, 468, 471, 120-B of IPC and Section 13 (1) (a) read with Section 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act at Police Station Patiala Range and investigation in this regard is underway.
