Norton Motorcycles, owned by TVS Motor Company, is set to return to India. The iconic century-old British brand has announced six new bikes over the next three years. They will start business in India, America, Germany, and France.
In addition to growing the business, TVS will invest 200 million pounds in the engineering, development and manufacturing of the new motorcycle. In Indian currency that is about 2162 crores. Let it be known that several years ago the British brand formed a joint venture and launched several of their models in India. But that partnership broke in 2020. Now with the backing of a big company like TVS, Norton is hopeful of a comeback in India.
Norton is mainly known for manufacturing expensive high-tech bikes. They range from supersport to high-end cruiser models. The company can be put in the category of Ducati. They are currently selling three bikes in the international market – Norton Commando 961, Norton V4CR, and Norton V4SV. Their prices in Indian currency are 18.46 lakhs, 45.61 lakhs, and 47.78 lakhs respectively. It remains to be seen how these bikes will actually be priced in India.
Note that Norton displayed some low-capacity bikes. But they did not see the face of the launch. This much is clear, they want to remain a premium brand. And it will not be different in case of India. However, it is not yet known when Norton Motorcycle will launch the new model in the country.
