The joy of being recognized for your hard work and dedication cannot be compared with anything else. Whether it’s the 90s or now, receiving an award is always a humbling and exhilarating experience,” says Raveena Tandon, who is a member of the Advisory Council of The Times of India Film Awards (CATEGORY) OTT edition 2023, along with eight other members from the film fraternity. The TOIFA event will be held on July 27 in Mumbai. The awards will honor exemplary talent in acting, content creation, and technical prowess in Hindi web films and series of 2023.
“Back then, it was all about the excitement of the event and the anticipation of who would win. The atmosphere was electric, and the entire industry would come together like one big family. There were no social media or instant updates, so the suspense was palpable, and the celebrations felt more intimate and personal. The glamour was there, but it was less about the spectacle and more about genuine appreciation for the craft. We didn’t have stylists or designer outfits on rent; we wore what we loved and felt comfortable in. There was a sense of authenticity and simplicity that made the experience truly special. Awarding the right person in the right category is essential because it not only validates the recipient’s efforts but also sets a standard for others to follow. I believe that credible awards like TOIFA play a crucial role in motivating artistes and celebrating the best in our industry. They provide a platform for recognizing the extraordinary efforts and achievements of actors, filmmakers, and technicians. We are committed to upholding the values of fairness and excellence. We aim to make the process as credible and transparent as possible, ensuring that the awards truly reflect the talent and dedication of our industry’s finest. My experience as a member of the Advisory Council for TOIFA has been incredibly rewarding and insightful. Being part of the team is an honor and a responsibility. I am deeply impressed by the level of creativity and innovation showcased in the nominations.”
To ensure fair judgment, TOIFA has introduced a rigorous three-tier voting process. The nominees have been shortlisted by 30 members of the Screening Jury, comprising well-known actors, filmmakers, studio execs, writers, casting directors, and film critics. The nominations are then vetted by the Advisory Council. After that, the TOIFA Academy, comprising 175 members of the Producers Guild of India, will vote for the winners.
