In such a situation, those who keep fast on Monday, will fast on the first Monday on 22nd July. This time there will be five Mondays in Sawan. During the fast of Sawan, some people just drink water throughout the day.

Water Chestnut Pudding
Halwa is popular all over India and during fasting, Singhara halwa becomes a popular option. To make the halwa, water chestnut flour is roasted till it becomes aromatic and golden brown. Then sugar or jaggery is added along with water or milk after getting a smooth consistency. Once it is cooked, garnish it with chopped nuts.
Sabudana Khichdi
One of the most popular dishes during Sawan Vrat is Sabudana Khichdi. Soaked sabudana made from peanuts and potatoes and flavoured with green chillies is not only tasty but also gives energy during fasting. Sabudana is soaked overnight to soften it and then roasted with masala and cooked well. Later garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve.
Potato and cumin
The next dish you can try is Aloo Jeera. It is a simple and tasty dish which is usually made in every household during the Savan fast. Chopped potatoes are tempered with spices and then cooked till soft and chopped coriander leaves are garnished at the end. Aloo Jeera can be eaten with Kuttu Puri, Shamak Rice.
Falahari Kadhi
During the Sawan fast, Falahari Kadhi is made with curd, water chestnut flour and spices like cumin, ginger and green chillies. It is often garnished and served with fresh coriander leaves. You can eat it with Kuttu Puri or Shamak Rice.
