Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has presented the budget. After the presentation of the budget, the stock market crashed. After the budget, the Sensex fell below one thousand. While the Sensex saw a decline of one and a half percent, the Nifty was seen trading with a decline of 1 percent during the trading session. The Sensex fell 1,266.17 points to 79,235.91 points, while the Nifty fell 435.05 points to 24,074.20 points.
Both Sensex and Nifty crashed
After the presentation of the general budget in the Lok Sabha, both the major stock market indexes Sensex and Nifty crashed. The BSE index Sensex fell by about 1200 points to 79224.32 points. Nifty also witnessed a decline of about one percent. Nifty was seen trading at 24,276.60 points with a decline of 232.65 points. Today Sensex opened at 80,724.30 points, while Nifty opened at 24,568.90 points.
Mixed trading in the stock market before the budget
The stock market is witnessing mixed trading before the presentation of the budget. At 9:45 am, the Sensex was down 47 points or 0.06 percent at 80,454 and the Nifty was down 21 points or 0.09 percent at 24,487. The trend on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) remained mixed till around 10 am. 1,048 stocks were in the green zone and 1,100 stocks were in the red zone.
