New Delhi,
Lok Sabha MP and leader of Sharad Pawar-led NCP Supriya Sule has appealed to stop the Hindi voiceover of MPs' English speeches. She said that the Hindi voiceover of MPs' English speeches telecast on TV channels should be stopped. Supriya Sule said in an ex post, “Sansad TV has started the “dangerous” practice of giving voiceover in Hindi to speeches given by MPs in English or regional languages in the first session of this Lok Sabha, and this is being done in the budget session as well.”
Demand for immediate ban on English to Hindi translation
NCP leader Supriya Sule said, “This is a form of censorship. It deprives crores of non-Hindi speaking Indians of the right to hear the original words of their elected representatives in their own languages. The government must immediately stop this discriminatory and anti-federal move.”
Supriya Sule had raised questions earlier also
This is not the first time Sule, a Lok Sabha MP from Baramati in Maharashtra, has commented on the matter. She had earlier said in an X post, “It has been observed that Sansad TV is now translating the speeches of MPs in English into Hindi, while the original audio is being muted.”
Supriya Sule had further said, “This new practice is extremely problematic, as it stifles the voice of parliamentarians, deprives elected members of the right to be heard in their chosen language, and is autocratic. We demand that the NDA government refrain from such unethical tactics that undermine democratic and constitutional principles and stifle the voice of the people of India.”
