Like every year, strict security arrangements have been made for the Independence Day celebrations. After the attack on former US President Donald Trump in the US last week, this time the security arrangements are being made more stringent. Delhi Police has geared up for the security of the Red Fort. Snipers, Facial Recognition System (FRS), CCTV cameras are being deployed by Delhi Police to make the security of the Red Fort impenetrable.
According to Delhi Police sources, this time the number of snipers with Dragunov SVD rifles has been increased. During the G-20 summit also, shooters with these rifles were deployed for the security of foreign guests. The practical accuracy range of these rifles is more than 800 meters. The shooters have been given special training to operate these rifles manufactured in Russia.
A Delhi Police official said that an app will be used to verify people during the celebrations at the Red Fort. The official said that the attack on former US President Donald Trump has made the role of snipers and FR CCTVs important this Independence Day. According to sources, Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora has brainstormed with all senior officials for tight security at the Red Fort.
Police sources said that during the Independence Day celebrations, spotters, face recognition system (FRS), CCTV cameras and drones will be used within a radius of one kilometer of the Red Fort. Officials said that FRS-fitted cameras have been used for four-five years, but this time their number will be more than 1,000. Apart from this, the e-Pariksha app will be used for verification of people living around the venue.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) MK Meena said that keeping in mind the security of the guests coming to the function as well as the convenience of the people living around the Red Fort, the people, workers and shopkeepers around the venue will be verified through the e-Pariksha app. For the first time, this app is being used keeping in mind the security of the Independence Day celebrations.
Later, this app can be used for verification across the city. Along with this, sources said that more than 10,000 security personnel including paramilitary personnel have been planned to be deployed to protect the Red Fort and important places in central and north Delhi.
