New Delhi, July 22 (IANS) A report says that if you focus on simple daily habits instead of giving time to smartphone and Google, then it can keep your brain healthy and also reduce the risk of dementia.
In his new book iMind: Artificial and Real Intelligence, Professor Mohammad I. Elmasri of the University of Waterloo has asked us to pay more attention to simple daily habits than artificial intelligence. He has said that people's focus has shifted from self-learning to being dependent on Google, which can have serious far-reaching consequences.
In his book iMind, he says that nothing can replicate the capacity, storage, longevity, energy efficiency or self-healing abilities of the human brain-mind. The useful life expectancy of a current smartphone is about 10 years. Whereas a healthy brain-mind inside a healthy human body can live for 100 years or more.
Smart devices are rapidly gaining ground, but they can never mimic the storage capacity or self-healing abilities of the human brain.
This book talks about the personal losses caused by dementia.
He compared the long-term potential of the brain to the limited lifespan of a smartphone, saying that a healthy brain, if nurtured, can last over 100 years.
Daily brain exercises such as memory workouts, developing associative memory, controlling alcohol, relaxing and taking regular naps help to enhance brain health.
