Omkareshwar Temple is located on an island named Mandhata in the middle of the Narmada River in Khandwa district of Tezzbuzz. It is considered one of the Jyotirlingas and is an important pilgrimage place for the devotees of Lord Shiva. This Jyotirlinga is located on an Omkar-shaped island on the banks of the Narmada River. Hence the temple is named Omkareshwar. This temple is also mentioned in many ancient texts of Hinduism such as Skanda Purana, Vishnu Purana and Mahabharata.
Worshiped in two forms Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar
Here Lord Shiva is worshipped in two forms, Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar. There are many beliefs prevalent about Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga. The most prominent belief among them is that Lord Shiva resides in Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga at night. He comes here and stays at night. Therefore, a bed is laid out for Lord Shiva here at night. There is a belief about Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga that Lord Shiva also comes to the temple to play Chausar i.e. Chaupar with Shri Mata Parvati. Therefore, Chaupar is laid out here at night and the sanctum sanctorum is closed.

You will be surprised to know that no one can go inside the temple at night, yet in the morning the Chaupar and its dice are scattered here in such a way as if someone has come and played Chaupar dice at night.
