Omkareshwar Temple is located on an island named Mandhata in the middle of the Narmada River in Khandwa district of Tezzbuzz. It is considered one of the Jyotirlingas and is an important pilgrimage site for the devotees of Lord Shiva. This Jyotirlinga is located on an Om-shaped island on the banks of the Narmada River, hence the name of this temple is 'Omkareshwar'. This temple is also mentioned in many ancient texts of Hinduism such as Skanda Purana, Vishnu Purana and Mahabharata. Here Lord Shiva is worshipped in two forms, Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar.

There are many beliefs prevalent about Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga. The most prominent belief among these is that Lord Shiva resides in Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga at night. He comes here and rests at night, hence a bed is laid for Lord Shiva here at night.
Another belief about Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga is that Lord Shiva plays Chausar or Chaupad with Goddess Parvati in this temple. Therefore, Chaupar is laid out here at night and the door of the sanctum sanctorum is closed. The most surprising thing is that no one can go inside the temple at night, yet in the morning Chausar and its dice are found scattered here in such a way as if someone has played Chaupar here at night. Another special belief about Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga is that without offering water in the Omkareshwar temple, all the pilgrimages of the seeker are considered incomplete.
The legend of the establishment of Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga
There are some mythological stories about the establishment of Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga, the most special of which is the story related to King Mandhata. According to this legend, in ancient times, King Mandhata was a very religious and powerful ruler. He was an ardent devotee of Lord Shiva. Once he started rigorous penance on the banks of the Narmada River located on the Omkar mountain to please Lord Shiva and receive his blessings. Tezzbuzz penance was so intense and difficult that it affected the entire universe.
Pleased with his penance, Lord Shiva appeared before him and asked him to ask for two boons. In the first boon, King Mandhata asked Lord Shiva to always reside at this holy place and fulfill the wishes of all his devotees. Tezzbuzz second boon was that my name should always be associated with the name of this holy place, so that people remember me.
Then Lord Shiva fulfilled both the boons of King Mandhata and sat in the form of Jyotirlinga at that place. That is why it is believed that Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga is self-manifested, that is, it was not built by any human, but it appeared on its own. Since then Lord Shiva has been sitting in this holy place in the form of Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga. And this area is known as Mandhata.
