New Delhi, July 20, 2024: Reliance Jio has become the number one company in terms of data consumption worldwide, pushing Chinese companies behind. The company's June quarter results revealed that data consumption on the Jio network has surpassed 44 exabytes i.e. 4400 crore GB in the quarter. This is a jump of about 33 percent compared to last year. For the first time in the country, customers on a telecom network are using an average of a little more than 1 GB per day.
Around 13 crore customers connected to Jio 5G network use a large amount of data. Currently, unlimited data is available free of cost on Jio's 5G network. The size of this number of 5G customers can be estimated from the fact that this number is the largest in the world, except China. Let us tell you that Jio has around 49 crore customers, out of which around 4 crore have connected to the Jio network in the last one year.

Commenting on the quarterly results, Akash M Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Jio Infocomm said, “Quality, affordable internet with high coverage is the backbone of Digital India and Jio is proud to contribute to it. With a 'customer first' approach, Jio will further strengthen its market leadership with its superior network and new service offerings.”
Jio has also set new records in the field of fixed wireless. Jio has become the first company to connect more than 10 lakh homes and premises with airfiber at the fastest speed. Along with data consumption, Jio customers are also talking a lot on mobile. Voice calling on the company's network reached a record level of 1.42 trillion minutes in the quarter, which is 6 percent more.
