Paris, July 19 (Tezzbuzz). The Refugee Olympic Team has arrived in France ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) made the announcement on Thursday. This year's Refugee Olympic Team includes a total of 37 athletes from 15 countries and regions. They will participate in 12 events at the Olympics, which marks the first time they have come together as a team.
In Bayeux, refugee athletes will continue to prepare for the Olympics using top-class training facilities. They will also participate in a series of team activities to promote team cohesion and help them get to know each other better.
Masouma Ali Zada, head of the Refugee Olympic Team, said: “We are very happy to finally arrive in France as a team to prepare for the Olympics. We are a highly diverse group with different cultures, languages and stories. But here you can see that we are truly united as a team. Our goal is to bring this spirit and unity to Paris, and we will present this unique team to the world during the opening ceremony.”
The Refugee Olympic Team will soon travel to Paris to move into the Olympic Village. This will be the Refugee Olympic Team's third appearance at the Olympics, following the first team of 29 athletes at Tokyo and 10 athletes at the Rio Olympics.
