Varanasi. A railway line will be laid to the port built at a cost of Rs 200 crore in Ralhupur, Ramnagar. Goods will be easily transported to the multimodal terminal through the 10 km long railway line and it will be sent to different parts of the country through waterways. The port will be connected to the DFC located in PDDU Nagar and Jeevanathpur railway station through the railway line. This will benefit the Ramnagar industrial area and the industrial area being developed in Chandait.
IWAI, which is engaged in giving a boost to water transport with the help of hydrogen vessels, will soon be connected to the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC). A railway line of about 10 km will be laid from Jivanathpur railway station to Ramnagar port. All this work will be completed after the freight village is developed and the hydrogen plant is set up. Its blueprint has been drawn in a meeting held recently with water transport and DFC officials.
There are also preparations to connect Haldia-Varanasi Waterway-1 to Bangladesh. Meanwhile, import and export of food grains and other goods has also taken place between Kolkata and Varanasi through containers at the port. Many efforts are also being made continuously to give a boost to water transport. Laying a railway line to the port will promote cargo transportation and water transport. Industrial units located nearby will get direct benefit from this.
