Punjab vigilance Bureau : Punjab Vigilance Bureau has struck yet another blow against corruption in the state. Under the campaign, the team on Thursday arrested deed writer Subhash Chandra and his brother Ramesh Chandra Ashtam Farosh red handed from district Pathankot for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 on behalf of Tehsildar, Narot Jaimal Singh. During the search of the house of the accused in village Talur, the vigilance team recovered Rs 8,90,000, regarding which no satisfactory explanation could be presented by the accused.
Giving information in this regard, the spokesperson of the State Vigilance Bureau said that the above mentioned persons have been arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by Sukhvir Pal, a resident of village Kohlian in Pathankot district. The spokesperson further said that the complainant approached the Vigilance Bureau and alleged in his complaint that the above mentioned accused had demanded Rs. 30,000 on behalf of Naib Tehsildar Narot Jaimal Singh for getting the registration of his plot done.
The spokesperson said that after investigating the complaint, the Vigilance Bureau team arrested both the accused red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 from the complainant in the presence of two government witnesses. In this regard, a case has been registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act at the Amritsar Range Police Station of the Vigilance Bureau. The spokesperson said that the accused will be produced in the Hon'ble Court tomorrow and further investigation is underway.
