Osama bin Laden's close associate arrested.
The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Pakistan's Punjab has arrested a senior al-Qaeda leader Amin ul Haq. He is said to be a close associate of Osama bin Laden, the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks in the US. CTD Punjab said that it has registered a case against ul Haq, in which he has been accused of planning attacks targeting important installations in the province.
In a major success, Osama bin Laden's close associate and senior al-Qaeda leader Amin ul Haq was arrested by the Counter Terrorism Department Punjab during an intelligence-based operation, the CTD said in a statement.
The statement said that ul Haq was arrested from Sarai Alamgir town of Gujrat district of Punjab. The statement said that Amin ul Haq was a close associate of Osama bin Laden since 1996 and was involved in many terrorist activities.

It also said that Ul Haq's name is included in the United Nations' list of global terrorists. CTD said that the arrest of Amin ul Haq is an important development in the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in Pakistan and around the world.
It further said that the arrested terrorist was planning to spread terrorism on a large scale in the country. The statement said that CTD Punjab will leave no stone unturned in its efforts to bring terrorists and anti-state elements behind bars.
Haq was Osama bin Laden's security supervisor
DIG Gondal revealed that a case has been registered against Aminul Haque and investigation has begun. Internationally, Haque was considered Osama bin Laden's security supervisor.
Aminul Haque was first arrested in 2007 and sentenced to four years in prison. DIG Gondal said a foreign intelligence agency had carried out a massive propaganda against him. Recently, Haque was seen in Afghanistan before re-entering Pakistan in August 2021. The detained terrorist had a Pakistani identity card bearing the addresses of Lahore and Haripur.
Laden was killed in 2011
Investigations are underway to find out how he entered Pakistan and with what identity he was travelling. DIG Gondal stressed that the case registered against the terrorist will be investigated strictly and the culprit will face the full extent of the law.
Let us tell you that bin Laden was killed in 2011 during a US raid on his hideout in the city of Abbottabad. The past year has seen a surge in terrorist activities in Pakistan, especially in Balochistan, after the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) ended its ceasefire with the government in November 2022.
