New Delhi. Uttar Pradesh Police has issued a new order regarding the Kavad Yatra starting from July 22. Muzaffarnagar Police has issued an order to the owners of shops and restaurants coming in the way of Kavad Yatra to put up a board with their name. Politics has also intensified regarding this.
Opposition leaders are targeting the UP government. Former Union Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has also raised questions on this decision of the UP Police. It is believed that he has made this comment on the social media platform X regarding the order issued by the police in Muzaffarnagar.
Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi wrote on Twitter on Thursday, “The orders of some over-enthusiastic officers can promote the disease of untouchability… faith must be respected, but untouchability should not be protected… do not ask about birth and caste, what is caste and creed. Raidas, all are sons of the Lord, no one is of low caste.” On the other hand, after the administration's decision, many shopkeepers have already hung boards with their names on their shops.
Earlier, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera shared a video on social media platform 'X' and wrote, “On the route of Kanwar Yatra, it will be necessary for the fruit and vegetable vendors and restaurant dhaba owners to write their names on the board. Whether this is a step taken towards economic boycott of Muslims or economic boycott of Dalits, or both, we do not know. Those who wanted to decide who will eat what, will now also decide who will buy what from whom? When this was opposed, they said that when Halal is written on the board of dhabas, then you do not protest. The answer to this is that even when pure vegetarian is written on the board of a hotel, we do not ask the name of the hotel owner, cook, waiter.”
BSP chief Mayawati also demanded the UP police to withdraw this order. Mayawati wrote on the social media platform X, “The new government order to all the shopkeepers of hotels, dhabas, carts etc. falling in the Kanwar Yatra route of Western UP and Muzaffarnagar district to prominently display the full name of the owner is a wrong tradition, which can spoil the harmonious atmosphere. The government should withdraw it immediately in public interest. Similarly, this inappropriate order of the Sambhal district administration of UP to teachers and students in basic government schools to remove shoes and slippers in the classroom is also being discussed a lot. The government should pay immediate attention to this matter as well.”
