To compete with Ola and Uber in India, Google has joined hands with NumberYatri. According to the latest update, Google has prepared to invest 10 billion dollars in India. Google has invested 11 million dollars in the pre-series A funding round in the parent company of India's ride sharing app NumberYatri.
How will ride sharing change for common people?
Currently, ride sharing partners with Ola and Uber have to pay 20% to 30% of their earnings as commission. The direct impact of which is that customers have to pay increased fares on every route.
Namma Yatri works on a subscription model instead of a commission model. Where the driving partner pays a certain amount every month for listing his vehicle on Namma Yatri and getting bookings from there, after which he does not have to pay any further commission.
Due to this new subscription model, Namma Yatri's service is cheaper than Ola and Uber. It is also available on India's ONDC platform.
