Government employees will now be able to participate in the activities of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The central government has lifted the ban on government employees participating in RSS activities after 58 years. Although no statement has been officially issued in this regard, BJP and Congress have claimed in their posts that the ban has been lifted.
Ban lifted after 58 years
Let us tell you that various state governments including Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Tezzbuzz and Chhattisgarh have already lifted the ban on government employees being associated with RSS. It is worth noting that on 30 November 1966, the central government had banned government employees from participating in the activities of RSS. The central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi lifted the ban imposed during the rule of Indira Gandhi on July 9, according to an order.
RSS was banned in 1948
BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya shared a screenshot of the Personnel Ministry's order on Instagram and posted, “Unconstitutional order issued 58 years ago in 1966, banning government employees from participating in RSS activities, has been withdrawn by Modi govt.” Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh posted, “Sardar Patel had banned RSS in Feb 1948, after Gandhiji's assassination. Later, the ban was lifted on assurance of good conduct.”
Congress shared this screenshot
Jairam Ramesh said that in 1966, a ban was imposed on government employees from participating in RSS activities. This was right. On July 9, 2024, the 58-year-old ban was lifted, which was in force even when Vajpayee was the Prime Minister. The Congress leader also shared a screenshot of the original order of November 30, 1966, which banned government employees from joining the activities of RSS and Jamaat-e-Islami.
Congress media and publicity department chief Pawan Khera shared the screenshot of the order and said that 58 years ago the central government had banned government employees from participating in RSS activities. The Modi government has withdrawn that order.
