Nepal Women's team celebrating victory.

The first match of Women's Asia Cup 2024 was played between Group A team Nepal and United Arab Emirates (UAE). In this match, Nepal created history by defeating UAE by six wickets. This is their first win in the history of this tournament. Nepal had earlier played eight Asia Cup matches and had to face defeat in all of them.

In this match played at Dambulla's Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Nepal won the toss and decided to bowl first. UAE scored 115 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Nepal scored 118 runs for four wickets in 16.1 overs and won by six wickets, thanks to the strong innings of Samjhana Khadka (72 not out). Samjhana was selected as the Player of the Match.

Samjhaan Khadka remained unbeaten on 72 off 45 balls.

Captain Indu Burma took three wickets
No batsman could play a big innings for UAE. Khushi Sharma played the highest innings of 36 runs. The entire UAE team could score only 115 runs in 20 overs. Nepal's captain Indu Burma took 3 wickets for 19 runs in four overs. Three bowlers got one wicket each.

Samjhana played an unbeaten half-century innings
Nepal Women's team, which came out to chase the target, got the first setback at a score of 39. Sita Rana was out after scoring just 7 runs. Kabita Kunwar contributed just 2 runs. Captain Indu Burma returned to the pavilion early after scoring 6 runs. However, Samjha Khadka, standing at one end, completed her half-century. Nepal won the match by scoring 118 runs at the loss of four wickets in 16.1 overs.

India won 7 titles
The Women's Asia Cup started in 2004. When India won it. Till now the Women's Asia Cup has been held 8 times. In which India has won this tournament 7 times, while Bangladesh has won the Asia Cup 1 time.
