Married women, mothers, and divorcees can now compete in the upcoming annual Miss Universe Singapore beauty event in 2024.
The organization is making this change, which is scheduled to take place in September of this year, in an effort to live up to its name and become a more inclusive place.
Only in the past was a particular set of women able to compete. They had to be single and unmarried, in addition to having a certain age restriction. All of these limitations have been replaced with a healthier competition.
Despite the fact that the Miss Universe Organization formally removed the upper age limit in 2024, competitors must be at least eighteen years old to participate. To be eligible for the Singapore edition, they must also be based in Singapore and have resided there for at least six months prior to September 1, 2024.
But the minimum height required at this time is 1.68 meters. There was not in 2023.
Together, King Kong Media Production, a regional entertainment company run by Singaporean actor Mark Lee, and Beyond Entity, a Malaysian organization with over ten years of pageantry experience, are organizing Miss Universe Singapore 2024.
The winner will compete in Miss Universe 2024, which takes place in Mexico in September, and represent Singapore internationally. She will also get a $10,000 cash prize.
In a statement, Elaine Daly, the national director of MUS and the 2003 Miss Universe Malaysia, said: “This competition is more than just a title. It provides a platform for you to encourage and support causes that are close to your heart.
Following in the footsteps of some well-known actresses who started their careers as beauty queens, we are looking for future actors as well as beauty queens.
