Jasmin Bhasin’s cornea gets damaged because of wearing contact lenses. In a recent post, the TV actor shared how this happened and announced that she is undergoing treatment. She also shared her progress on social media saying that she is “better now and recovering.” In an interview with Bombay Times, Jasmin shared how she found out about the eye problem and the problems she faced.
“I was in Delhi for an event on July 17, for which I was preparing. I don’t know what exactly went wrong with my lens, but after wearing it, my eyes started hurting, and the pain gradually intensified. I wanted to see a doctor, but due to work commitments, I decided to participate in the event first and then visit the doctor. I wore sunglasses during the event and the team helped me with handling things, as I couldn’t see properly after a while. We went to an eye specialist late at night, who diagnosed me with corneal damage and placed bandages on my eyes,” Bombay Times quoted her as saying.
THINGS TO KEEP IN MIND BEFORE WEARING CONTACT LENS:
While contacts are safe with proper usage, it’s essential to understand a few things, especially if you are a first-time wearer.
1. Clean your hands:
When it comes to wearing your contacts, be sure to always thoroughly wash your hands and avoid oily and fragrance-heavy soaps as these chemicals can stick to your lens and end up in your eye.
2. Position them properly:
The trick is to place the lens carefully on your finger and ensure that it forms the shape of a cup before you hold it up to your eye. If the contact forms a simple ‘U’ shape, then it’s in its proper position but if the top edges flare out, the lens is inside-out.
3. Avoid touching lenses with your fingernails:
Touching contact lenses with fingernails can infect your eyes. Also, watch out for sharp fingernails and maintain a habit of regularly cutting and filing them to avoid damaging your lens.
4. Do not rinse lenses with water:
Water can contain germs and harmful bacteria that are bad for the eye and can lead to infection.
5. Use the right contact cleaning solution:
To make sure your contacts are good to wear, clean them regularly. Be sure to use a fresh solution and rinse the lenses and its case.
