In Puducherry last month electricity tariff hike was announced. It has been announced that electricity charges for houses have been increased from 45 paisa to 75 paisa.
Various political parties including the AIADMK and the general public strongly opposed this.
In this case, in order to protest against the increase in electricity tariff, AM Aadmi Party executive Sundarrajan came to the electricity bill payment counter at the electricity department head office in Vambakeerapalayam area along with Govana and paid the electricity bill.
He also alleged that the middle class people are suffering the most due to the increase in electricity charges. He went on a half-naked protest insisting that the free electricity available in other states should be brought to Puducherry. Due to this, there was a stir in the area for a while.
