Ajit Agarkar On Ravindra Jadeja : Ravindra Jadeja has not been selected in the Indian team for the ODI series against Sri Lanka. When the team was announced, everyone was surprised to see Jadeja's name missing. Many people felt that Ravindra Jadeja's career is about to end under Gautam Gambhir's coaching. When the same question was asked to Chairman of Selectors Ajit Agarkar during the press conference, he gave a big response. Agarkar said that Jadeja has not been dropped from the team, but he has been given rest so that he can remain fit for the test matches.
Ravindra Jadeja retired from T20 International after the T20 World Cup 2024. Now he will be seen playing only in ODIs and Test matches. However, he was not selected in India's ODI team for the Sri Lanka series. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were selected but Jadeja was dropped. Axar Patel was selected instead. Due to this, many speculations started being made about Ravindra Jadeja.
Ajit Agarkar gave a big reaction about Ravindra Jadeja
Gautam Gambhir came for the first press conference after becoming the head coach. Chief selector Ajit Agarkar was also present with him. During this, when asked about the selection of Ravindra Jadeja, Agarkar said, it did not make sense to select both Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja. One or the other player would have had to sit on the bench anyway. Jadeja has not been dropped. A long Test season is about to come and Jadeja will feel refreshed for it.
Earlier, it was also reported that new head coach Gautam Gambhir wants to see whether all-rounder Akshar Patel, who is being considered as an alternative to Jadeja, will be able to repeat his T20 International success in ODIs as well. Akshar has done very well in the shortest format so far but he is yet to be fully tested in ODI matches. Apart from this, the team also has to play many Test matches in the future.
