There will be repair work of Ratna Bhandar
Bhubaneswar. There was a demand for opening the treasury of Lord Jagannath temple in Odisha for a long time. This treasury was opened earlier in 1985. After 46 years, the Ratna Bhandar of Jagannath temple was opened on 14th July. For this, special preparations were made as per the SOP of the BJP government of Odisha.
The keys to the basement of Ratna Bhandar were lost, so the locks were broken and new locks were put in. After this, Ratna Bhandar was opened again on 18th July. The team of 11 members stayed in Ratna Bhandar for about 7 hours. Justice Vishwanath Rath, the chairman of the committee formed by the government, said that first the repair work of Ratna Bhandar will be done. Pray to God that this work gets done as soon as possible.
The basement was last opened in 1985. From the crowns of kings to vaults full of treasures, everything was seen. Actually, precious jewellery and utensils of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra are kept in Ratna Bhandar. The treasure contains those things which were offered to the temple by the kings and devotees of that era. These things have been kept in the temple built in the 12th century since then. This storehouse has two parts, one outer and the other inner storehouse.
Treasure information will remain confidential
Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief Arabinda Padhi said that all the valuables from the chamber inside the Ratna Bhandar have been shifted to a temporary strong room. These included seven containers including wooden and steel cupboards and chests. As per the SOP, both the inner chamber and the temporary strong room have been closed and sealed. Rath said that the jewellery and valuables inside the inner chamber were kept in seven containers, which included three wooden cupboards, two wooden boxes and one steel cupboard and one iron box. All the valuables were kept in new containers and the strong room has been sealed. The keys have been given to the Puri Collector. The keys will be kept in the treasury. Regarding the treasure, Justice Rath said that whatever we saw inside the inner chamber is confidential. Just as one does not disclose the valuables in his house, it would be inappropriate to disclose the treasure of the Lord in public.
