Indian travel influencer Aanvi Kamdar fell to her death after slipping at the top of a waterfall while filming an Instagram Reel.
The 27-year-old from Mumbai fell down 300ft into a gorge as she filmed her surroundings at the Kumbhe Waterfall in Manjurne.
Aanvi had been filming alongside six friends when she slipped and fell down the waterfall on July 16 during monsoon season.
After witnessing the accident, horrified friends called the emergency services.
First responders rushed to the scene and began efforts to rescue Aanvi, with one saying:
“As soon as we reached the spot, we realised that the girl has fallen nearly 300 to 350 feet.
“Even after reaching her, it was difficult to get her up, as she was injured and it was raining heavily.
“So we decided to get her out using a vertical pulley.”
Shantanu Kuveskar, another rescuer, added:
“She fell on the hard, slippery patch of rocks around 300ft into the valley and couldn’t be spotted initially.
“She was sent up using a stretcher attached to rappelling ropes. Six rescuers climbed down the hill, while another 50 assisted atop the hillock.”
The influencer was alive and responsive when she was finally pulled from the gorge after a six-hour rescue operation.
Aanvi was taken to hospital in nearby Mangaon on ventilatory support but tragically succumbed to her injuries shortly after admission.
In addition to her vibrant travel contentwhich had garnered her over 300,000 followers on Instagram and showcased her visits to Turkey, Azerbaijan and the Maldives, Aanvi was a chartered accountant.
She and her friends had visited the waterfall to capture its full splendour during the monsoon season.
Local officials have since issued warnings to tourists, urging them to exercise caution while visiting the mountainous area, particularly during the rainy season when conditions can be especially treacherous.
The tragedy comes as a married couple jumped off a railway bridge into a 90ft deep gorge to escape an approaching train during a photoshoot.
Shocking footage shows the pair plunging from Gormaghat Bridge in Pali, Rajasthan, around midday on July 15, leaving them seriously injured.
The harrowing moment was captured on camera, showing the couple creating content for social media when the train came into shot.
