In the 5th match of the Women's Asia Cup, India defeated the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by a huge margin of 78 runs. With this victory, the Indian women's cricket team has confirmed its place in the semi-finals. Now India will play its last match of the group stage against Nepal on 23 July.
In this match, after losing the toss, Team India came to bat first and scored 201 runs. This was India's first 200 plus score in Women's T20 International. Harmanpreet Kaur played a captaincy innings and scored 66 runs in 47 balls. Wicketkeeper batsman Richa Ghosh played a stormy innings of 64 runs in just 29 balls. While chasing the huge target of 202 runs, the UAE team could score only 123 runs after losing 7 wickets.
Batting first, India had a quick start but lost 3 wickets in the powerplay. Opener Shefali Verma played a brilliant innings of 37 runs in 18 balls, which included a six and 5 fours. Her partner Smriti Mandhana could only score 13 runs in 9 balls. Dayalan Hemalatha, who came at number 3, got out cheaply. After this, Jemimah Rodrigues also could not do anything special. However, she supported captain Harmanpreet well. There was a partnership of 54 runs for the fourth wicket between the two, in which Jemimah contributed 14 runs.
