Cricket News Desk. The Indian team will soon leave for the three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka. On Thursday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India's 15-member squad for the tour. Rituraj Gaikwad did not get a chance in this. This decision of the board surprised everyone. Now former chief selector Krishnamachari Srikkanth has targeted the Indian team management.
The three-match T20 series between India and Sri Lanka will start from July 27. Suryakumar Yadav has been made the captain of the Indian T20 team for this series, while Shubman Gill has been given the vice-captaincy. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad, who performed brilliantly on the Zimbabwe tour, has not been given a place in the team. Now this legendary batsman has taken a class of BCCI.
Referring to Shubhman Gill, the former chief selector said that not every player has luck like Gill. Srikkanth said, “Rituraj Gaikwad is an automatic selection for T20. Rituraj should score more runs and the selectors should focus on him because not everyone has luck as good as Shubhman Gill.”
Actually, Rituraj Gaikwad recently performed well in the five-match T20 series against Zimbabwe. He scored a total of 133 runs in three innings of four matches at a strike rate of 158.33. The highest score of this batsman, who came to bat at number three, was 77* runs. At the same time, Gill scored 170 runs in five innings of five matches at a strike rate of 125.92. His highest score was 66 runs. It is believed that if Gill had got a chance in the last T20 match, he could have become the highest run-scorer for India in this series.
