In Muzaffarnagar's Chhapar police station area, the Kanwariyas stopped the Swift car occupants who were running away after hitting and breaking the Kanwar, at the Shri Laxmi Food Plaza Dhaba at Badedi intersection. The angry Kanwariyas vandalized the car. They also thrashed the driver. The driver tried to save his life by entering the Dhaba, but the Kanwariyas entered the Dhaba and thrashed him as well. The Dhaba workers and the police tried to save him, but the Kanwariyas also scuffled with the police and the Dhaba workers.

Controversy: Late night, in front of Shri Laxmi Food Plaza situated at Badedi crossing on Delhi Dehradun National Highway, Kanwariyas who were carrying Gangajal from Haridwar stopped a Swift car. It is alleged that the Kanwariyas accused the driver of breaking the Kavad and running away in the car and got him out and started beating him. The driver tried to save his life by entering a Dhaba. But the Kanwariyas surrounded him in the Dhaba as well and started beating him.

When the police reached the spot and tried to save him, the kanwadis pushed the police and also beat up the dhaba workers. The angry kanwadis completely broke and damaged the car. The police somehow saved the injured driver from the kanwadis and sent him to the police station.

On receiving the information, CO Sadar Raju Kumar Sao and Inspector Rojant Tyagi reached the spot and pacified the Kanwariyas and sent them away and sent the damaged car to the police station by crane. The CO said that the incident is being investigated on the basis of CCTV cameras installed at the Dhaba. There is no information about any Kanwar being broken in the background. The matter is being investigated.
