To avoid fake e-challan scam, you have to keep some important things in mind. The first important thing is that do not click on any link coming from any unknown number nor make the mistake of downloading any attachment.
Second important thing, if you have any doubts about the message, then you can go to the official website (.gov) and enter your vehicle details to check whether your challan has really been issued or not. Do not make the mistake of entering financial information or Aadhaar details on unverified web, site or mobile app. If your challan has really been issued, then make payment only through the official website (.gov).
