New Delhi,
The Uttar Pradesh government has issued an order regarding the Kanwar Yatra starting from July 22, the first day of Sawan. The government has issued an order for all the shopkeepers and vendors on the Kanwar route. It has been said that all the shops and carts should write their names on them so that the Kanwar pilgrims can know from which shop they are buying goods. Earlier this order was issued for some districts of UP, which will now be applicable in the entire state.
Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi's U-turn
Former Union minister and senior BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi had earlier said that 'orders issued by some over-zealous officials may fuel the disease of untouchability in a hurry'. But after the UP government's order, he said that 'there was some confusion which the government has now cleared up.'
Naqvi said, 'Administrative confusion has been removed. There is no need for anyone to create communal confusion. The responsibility of law and order lies with the state government. Everyone should be able to practice their faith and devotion with security. There is no need to create any kind of confusion in this.'
'Wearing secular sherwanis, they are old masters of communal activities'
Naqvi said, 'As far as the question of identification or use of name is concerned, no one should have any objection to it.' On being asked about the tweet, he said, 'At that time there was some confusion regarding the administrative guidelines of a place. Today the state government has cleared it.'
The former Union Minister said, 'Who has an objection to the purity of faith, respect for faith or any effort to protect faith?' On the questions being raised by Owaisi and Akhilesh Yadav on the government's decision, he said, 'Those who are very old craftsmen of communal mischief in secular sherwani, they do such things.'
What did the CMO say in his order?
The Chief Minister's Office said in its order on Friday that 'nameplates' will have to be installed on food shops on Kanwar routes across Uttar Pradesh and the name and identity of the owner will have to be written on the shops. According to the CMO, this decision has been taken to maintain the purity of the faith of Kanwar pilgrims and action will also be taken against those selling products without Halal certification.
