The taluka police picked up Mehul Gohel's brother Vicky Gohel and Dilip Ahir who came to Rajkot from Africa and started further investigation in this matter.
Jai Dineshbhai, who was working as an accountant in Borewell Company in Kinshasa, was held hostage by the owner of the company on 3-6-2024, in order to recover eight thousand dollars i.e. Rs. 6.80 lakhs as per Indian currency from Jay. The family members were often forced to pay this amount by making video calls to Jay. When the middle class family was ready to pay 6.80 lakhs, the owner of the company demanded three times the amount and made it clear that he would release Jay only if he paid 22 lakhs. While Jai has been in captivity for the past one month, his brother Abhay Gohel and mother approached the central and state governments as well as the Rajkot Police Commissioner and senior Congress leaders for help.
Regarding this incident, the state level ministers and Delhi MP showed their readiness to mediate. Jai and his mother also received frequent threats in Rajkot. Mehul Gohel's brother, Vicky Gohel, who lives in Africa, and Dilip Ahir, who came to Rajkot, threatened to release Jai only if he paid money. Jay's brother Abhay and his mother went to Police Commissioner Brajesh Kumar Jha regarding the matter and the investigation was handed over to the Taluka Police. The taluka police picked up Vicky Gohel and Dilip Ahir, who came to Rajkot from Africa, and started questioning them in this matter. On the other hand, the government has also come into action regarding this matter and the Minister of State for Home Affairs Harsh Sanghvi has sent a messenger to the family of Jai Koria and called them to meet them face to face in Gandhinagar.
After the whole matter came in the media, the Central Government and the Ministry of External Affairs also informed the Indian Embassy in Africa about this matter and started talks regarding the release of Jai Koria. It is worth mentioning that the owner of the borewell company that held Jai hostage is also from Rajkot and has a close relationship with the saints of the Swaminarayan sect. The saints of the Swaminarayan sect also appealed to Mehul Gohel to release Jay. But for some reason he is not ready to release Jai without money.
Mehul made a video threatening Jai Koria
After the video of Jay Korea being held hostage at Kinsasa in Africa went viral on social media, Mehul Gohel, the owner of Jay who took Jay as a hostage, threatened Jay and made a video to prove that the whole matter was wrong. Later, Jai also made a video from jail and sent it to his family and the media in which he clearly stated that Mehul had made the video by threatening him.
