Google Pixel 9 Pro: Google has once again played the role of leakers by officially confirming the launch of the Pixel 9 series at the August 13 event. The company has also said that the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold will hit the Indian market next month.

Yes, this will be the first foldable to come from the Pixel stable, and it was surprising to hear Google make this announcement suddenly. The Pixel 9 Pro will launch in India on August 14, a day after the Made by Google event in California next month

Google Pixel 9 Pro design

The Google Pixel 9 Pro has been teased in an off-white colourway. The design is similar to the previously leaked renders. The visor-like raised rear camera island holds a pill-shaped black module with three camera sensors arranged horizontally. Outside the black module, we can see the LED flash unit along with the temperature sensor. The camera island also appears to have a grainy texture.

In the teaser video, we get a glimpse of the flat display of the Google Pixel 9 Pro. The phone can also be seen with a metallic frame that houses the power button and volume rocker on the right edge.

The Google Pixel 9 Pro is also teased to come with support for Google’s artificial intelligence-powered service Gemini AI. It was previously reported that it will come with a free 1-year subscription to Gemini Advanced.

Google has officially debunked those reports with its own teaser on Friday, showing us the new Gemini-powered Pixel 9 lineup and yes, the first Pixel 9 series Fold in the market. The leaks confirm new camera modules on the back of the Pixel 9 Pro models, while the 9 Pro Fold has a massive camera setup that is likely to house three camera sensors.

The first-generation Pixel Fold didn’t come to India and given the reviews of the device and its price, many felt that was the right decision. But Google considers India a big part of its Pixel growth story, and not just with the Pixel A series models. So, bringing the Pixel 9 Pro Fold to the country seems like a confirmation of those claims.

The price details of the Google Pixel 9 Pro have already been leaked. The 128GB option of the phone could start at EUR 1,099 (roughly Rs. 99,000), while the 256GB and 512GB variants could be priced at EUR 1,199 (roughly Rs. 1,09,000) and EUR 1,329 (roughly Rs. 1,20,000), respectively. The handset will likely be available in four colours – Hazel, Obsidian, Pink, and Porcelain.
