New Delhi. Whatever happened on the field between Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir during IPL 2023 shocked the cricket world. Gambhir was then the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants and Kohli was playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Both of them clashed on the field after the RCB vs LSG match. The fight between the two was so bad that the rest of the players had to intervene.

However, after this in 2024, Gambhir changed the team and became the mentor of KKR. After this, during the KKR vs RCB match, Gambhir was seen hugging Kohli and laughing and talking. Then it seemed that everything was fine. Now Gambhir himself has revealed his relationship with Virat.

After becoming the head coach of Team India, Gambhir came in front of the media for the first time and discussed many issues with chief selector Agarkar. These also include statements about his relationship with Virat Kohli. Gambhir said- Any kind of relationship I have with Virat Kohli is not for TRP. This is a relationship between two mature people. At the moment, we are representing India.

We are representing 140 crore Indians. I have a very good relationship with them off the field. But, it is not for public display. It is not important how much I have interacted with them during or after the game.

Kohli is a consummate professional, a world-class athlete and hopefully he continues to be that way. We are on the same page and will try to make India proud. Sometimes, just because we want the headlines, it is not important. Right now, the most important thing is that we both will work extremely hard to make India proud and that is our job.

Bumrah has been rested since the T20 World Cup. He has not been selected in the team for neither the T20 series nor the ODI series against Sri Lanka. Bumrah made a comeback only last year after battling injury for a year.

However, his comeback has been tremendous and he was the Player of the Tournament in the T20 World Cup 2024 after making a splash in the ODI World Cup 2023. However, managing his workload has been the biggest problem. Gambhir also talked about which match he should be played in and when he should be given rest.

Gambhir said- I have said it before, workload management is important for any player like Bumrah. He is a rare bowler that any team would want. You want Bumrah to play important matches. That is why workload management is important not only for him but also for other fast bowlers.

If you are a batsman who is batting well, you can play all formats. Rohit and Virat have now retired from T20, so they will play two formats from now on. Hopefully they will be available for most of the matches.
