30 bidders showed interest in running three multi skill centers; Courses will be conducted as per the requirement of industries: Aman Arora
Khas Khas, Chandigarh:
Punjab Employment, Skill Development and Training Minister Aman Arora said here today that the meeting convened before the allotment of three Multi Skill Development Centres (MSDCs) run by the department had received overwhelming encouragement from the training partners which confirms that the change of power in the state has increased people’s faith in the system.
It is noteworthy that this is the first time that 30 bidders have participated in the pre-bid meeting, whereas during previous governments only 3-4 bidders used to participate in such meetings.
Aman Arora said that five Multi Skill Development Centres of Punjab Skill Development Mission are functioning in Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Bathinda, Amritsar and Hoshiarpur. These centres have become vacant in Jalandhar, Bathinda and Ludhiana and these centres are to be given to the training agencies shortlisted through the RFP process.
He said that 4500 seats (1500 seats in each MSDC) would be available in these three MSDCs for the students to pursue vocational courses. Congratulating the officials of Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) for providing conducive atmosphere to the training partners and industry associations, Mr. Aman Arora assured all the stakeholders of every possible support from the State Government to ensure best use of the MSDCs.
He said that the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann is making every effort to open new avenues of employment for the youth of the state by enhancing their skills. Aman Arora said that the Punjab Skill Development Mission had issued the RFP for these three MSDCs last month through the state's e-procurement portal.
The Cabinet Minister said that the courses offered in MSDCs should be tailored to the industrial requirements. He also asked the officials to focus on bridging the gap between industrial needs and skilled workforce.
He said that the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is soon going to launch its Skill Training Scheme to equip college, ITI and polytechnic students with life and soft skills besides enhancing the employability of the youth.
