The England team has finally managed to break a historic record in Test cricket for the first time in its 147-year history. In the second Test match at Trent Bridge in Nottingham, England scored more than 400 runs in both its innings. Before this, England had never been able to touch the 400 mark in both innings of Test cricket.
It is worth noting that the host team continued its excellent performance with the bat and scored huge scores in both the innings. Thanks to Ollie Pope's century, England scored 416 runs in the first innings, while thanks to Harry Brook and Joe Root's centuries, the host team touched the mark of 425 runs in the second innings. West Indies also crossed the 400 mark in the first innings. This is the first time in Test cricket that more than 400 runs were scored in three innings.
This feat happened for the first time
At the same time, this is the first time that England has scored more than 400 runs in both innings of a Test match. England has been playing Test cricket since 1877. Their first Test match was held in March 1877 against Australia in Melbourne. Since then, England has played 1073 Test matches, but they have never been able to score more than 400 runs in both innings of a Test match. Apart from this, this is the 12th time that a team has crossed the 400-run mark in both innings of a Test match.

- Australia vs India, Sydney, 2008
- India vs Sri Lanka, Ahmedabad, 2009
- England vs West Indies, Trent Bridge, 2024
Joe Root hit his 32nd century in Tests
Former England captain Joe Root scored his 32nd Test century on the fourth day of the second Test. With this century, he has equaled Kane Williamson and Steve Smith in scoring the most Test centuries. Not only this, he also became the 8th highest Test run-scorer in the world. This was Root's first Test century in the year 2024.
