When driving vehicles on national highways, a FASTag sticker must be affixed on the inside of the windshield. The National Highways Authority of India has ordered that double tolls will be charged for vehicles without such stickers when crossing the toll booth.
In a notification issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in this regard, the National Highways Authority of India has issued new guidelines to prevent FASTag stickers from being deliberately affixed to the windshields of vehicles using national highways.
Many motorists keep a FASTag sticker inside their car and stick it on the windshield only when crossing customs. This causes unnecessary delay. This action is to prevent this.
Accordingly, it has been advised to charge double the toll fee for vehicles that do not affix the Fastak bow on the inside of the windshield while passing through the toll booth.
Therefore, around 45,000 km of roads are laid across the country. The National Highways Authority of India has ordered double tolls for non-FASTag vehicles at around 1,000 toll booths on long-distance national highways and expressways. The Commission has again issued a warning as this provision is already in place.
