New Delhi. Guru Purnima is celebrated on the full moon day of Ashadh month. This year Guru Purnima festival will be celebrated on 21st July 2024 i.e. tomorrow. Guru Purnima is dedicated to Maharishi Ved Vyas, who composed the epic Mahabharata. On this day, Devguru Brihaspati is also worshiped along with the Guru. Astrologers say that people who make certain mistakes on Guru Purnima never get success in life.

1. Every word of the Guru's speech outweighs all your wealth; hence you should never flaunt your wealth and fame in front of the Guru.

2. According to the scriptures, the status of a Guru is higher than even God, therefore one should never sit on the seat of a Guru. Insulting a Guru is insulting God.

3. Whenever you are near your Guru, never sit with your feet facing him. Doing so also insults the Guru. Such people are partners in sin.

4. Never use foul or abusive language in front of the Guru. Abusive words that hurt the Guru's feelings should never be spoken.

5. Never speak ill of your Guru in front of anyone. This is a grave sin. If someone else is doing this, then try to stop him by being restrained.

Method of worshipping Guru

On the day of Guru Purnima, make the Guru sit on a high seat. Wash his feet with water. Offer yellow and white flowers at his feet. Give him white or yellow clothes. Feed him white sweets.
