Dehradun: The district hospital of Chamoli, the border district of the state, has met the parameters of National Quality Insurance Standards (NQS). With this, Chamoli District Hospital has joined the category of hospitals receiving NQS and Lakshya National Certification. Uttarakhand has so far received 10 NQS and 19 Lakshya National Certifications for better health services. Due to the tough decisions and efficient leadership of the state's Medical Health and Medical Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, health services in the state are being continuously strengthened and expanded.
Due to which the condition of hospitals in the state seems to be changing. The latest example of which is the district hospital of the border district Chamoli. Chamoli District Hospital has met the standards of National Quality Insurance Standards (NQAS) due to better health services. For this, the district hospital has received NQS and Lakshya National Certification. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India evaluated 07 sections of the district hospital such as labor room, maternity OT, general OT, pharmacy, radiology, maternity ward and general admin under the quality assurance standard.
In which the hospital's service system, patients' rights and responsibilities, support services, clinical services, infection control and quality control standards in the hospital were examined. In which the district hospital was found to be at the top in every section. The credit for fulfilling the NQS standards goes to the District Quality Assurance Team and the Chief Medical Officer of the hospital and his team. Due to the strengthening of health services, Uttarakhand has received 10 NQS and 19 Lakshya National Certifications so far.
In the current financial year 2024-25, so far the state has received two national certifications from the Government of India, one of which is Lakshya National Certificate while two are NQS Certificates. Apart from this, NQS evaluation of two medical units has been done, the result of which is yet to come. All the officers and employees of the Health Department deserve congratulations on District Hospital Chamoli getting NQAS Certification and Lakshya Award. Due to their tireless efforts, health services are continuously getting strengthened in the border district.

What is NQS and Lakshya Award Every financial year, the Government of India provides financial assistance along with NQAS certification to the hospitals that fulfill the standards set under the National Quality Insurance Standards. NQAS certification is done at the national level. Feedback on more than 450 indicators is taken for the certification of hospitals.
In NQAS, many small points like biomedical waste, NOC of list, AVRV of X-ray, fire NOC, patients’ feedback, staff, cleanliness, facility in OT, arrangement of medicines etc are looked into.
