Dantewada News: 51 players from Dantewada district participated in various games in the 67th National School Games Competition organized by the School Games Federation of India and won 31 national medals. Dantewada Collector Mayank Chaturvedi honored these players by handing over cheques.
It should be known that under the sports promotion scheme of Chhattisgarh School Education Department, there is a provision of giving 21 thousand rupees for each gold medal, 15 thousand rupees for silver medal and 10 thousand rupees for bronze medal. In this connection, cheques worth 6 lakh 17 thousand rupees were distributed to 31 players of Dantewada district. On the strength of the players making the district proud with this achievement in the said National School Sports Competition, Dantewada district occupied the fourth position in the district wise medal table after Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg.
In this regard, physical education teacher Rajneesh Oswal told that gold medal, silver medal and bronze medal have been won in baseball competitions held in Bilaspur and Korba, archery held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, softball held in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, softball held in Bikaner, Rajasthan and softball held in Kabirdham. In this way, 16 players from Eklavya Sports Complex Jawanga, 12 players from Government Higher Secondary School Chhote Tamnar and 3 players from Model School Dantewada have received the cheque.
It is noteworthy that in the year 2023-24 school sports competition, 25 players in baseball, 05 players in softball, 06 players in kabaddi, 06 players in archery, 04 players in athletics and 05 players in volleyball, a total of 51 players from Dantewada district have brought glory to the district by showcasing their talent at the national level. On this achievement of the players of the district, District Collector Mr. Mayank Chaturvedi, CEO District Panchayat Mr. Vishwaranjan, Joint Collector and District Sports Officer Mr. Himachal Sahu, District Education Officer Mr. SK Ambasta congratulated them and wished them a bright future.
