A CrowdStrike ‘Falcon Sensor’ update caused millions of Windows computers worldwide to experience the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) error today, leading to sudden shutdowns and restarts. The issue affected airlines, banks, stock markets, and other businesses globally.
Airports worldwide reported that check-in systems were down, forcing services to be handled manually and causing likely delays. Indian airlines posted on X (formerly Twitter) to inform passengers about the system disruptions.
Social media users shared photos of their screens stuck on a recovery page with the message: “It looks like Windows didn’t load correctly. If you’d like to restart and try again, choose Restart my PC below.”
Microsoft, in a statement, said it was taking “mitigation actions” after service issues. “Our services are still seeing continuous improvements while we continue to take mitigation actions,” the company said in a post on X.
