Pune. A local court in Pune has sent IAS-probationary officer Pooja Khedkar's mother Manorama Khedkar to two-day police custody. A case has been registered against Manorama Khedkar under attempt to murder and Arms Act. The police will present her again in Pune's local court after two days on July 20. On Thursday morning, Pune rural police took IAS-probationary officer Pooja MD Khedkar's mother Manorama Dilip Khedkar into custody from Mahad town of Raigad, Maharashtra.
Manorama was missing for about a week. A video went viral on social media in which she was seen threatening some farmers in Mulshi with a pistol for allegedly grabbing their land. According to preliminary information, Manorama was hiding in a small hotel near Mahad town in Raigad district, from where a team of Pune Rural Police detained her. Amid massive public outrage, the Paud police took cognizance of the incident of brandishing weapons in front of farmers and registered Pasalkar's complaint against Manorama and others, but she was in hiding for several days.
Following this, the Pune Police Commissioner has sent her a notice to cancel her arms license. Two days ago (16 July), following the instructions of Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) Mussoorie, the Maharashtra government removed Pooja Khedkar from the post of IAS-probationer and she will move to Mussoorie on 23 July.
