Varanasi. On one hand, lakhs of devotees are expected to reach Kashi Vishwanath temple in the month of Saavan. The administration has geared up for this. On the other hand, a case of cheating devotees by creating a fake website of Kashi Vishwanath temple has come to light. The CEO of the temple trust has complained about this to the DGP. The police has appointed cyber experts to investigate this matter.
The cyber gang duped the devotees of Rs. 10 lakh in the name of darshan, aarti and Rudrabhishek. This was revealed when the devotees contacted the temple. As soon as the news came out, the officials of the temple administration were in a panic.
According to the police, devotees from all over the country and abroad reach Kashi Vishwanath for darshan during Saavan. Cyber criminals started booking by creating a fake website in the name of Kashi Vishwanath temple. Booking for darshan, worship, Rudrabhishek and aarti was done on it. Currently, all types of bookings are closed on the original website of the temple due to Saavan.
The thugs have created the fake website in such a way that the devotees do not even know about it. The visitors to the website are given the option of direct contact. After the devotee logs in on the fake website, his number is taken and money is transferred directly to his account. Cyber criminals are also getting a new app uploaded as soon as the devotees click on the link.
Used to order Dakshina online on Pandit ji's number
Apart from this, on clicking on the fake website, the home page will open. On clicking on Puja booking here, it is written to contact the local Pandit ji. Along with this, 2 mobile numbers 091-09335471019/ 09198302474 are also given. The fraudsters also used to ask for money online from Pandit ji's number.
The temple CEO complained to the DGP
Temple CEO Vishwabhushan Mishra has written a letter to DGP Prashant Kumar and Police Commissioner Mohit Agarwal. In this, he has demanded to delete the fake website of the temple and take action against the culprits. He said that apart from darshan on the website, booking of hotels, boats, tourism, travel, flights and local taxis is also being done on arrival in Kashi. Agents are also giving complete information offline by taking the number in the first click.
